...and out (updated with injury list)

As if Skate Extreme burning down wasn't enough of a blight for the South Wales DH scene this weekend, Team Skene rider Sion Whitecross suffered an upset to the start of his 2010 season at Caersws, breaking his arm in a savage icy-rooty crash.
An otherwise dry event was marred by a spattering of rain on Saturday afternoon that (combined with an overnight low of -6°C) made for a course better suited to Torvill & Dean on Sunday morning!
Sion - one of the brave that went up for an early icy run - was caught out (as many others were) by the conditions at the top. A collision with a stump put him in considerable pain, and he was eventually drugged up and airlifted off. Rumours were flying around about a femur fracture, a snapped wrist, a broken ankle, etc etc. You name it, he'd broken it!
A big shame for Sion as it was to be his first race in Elite, mixxing it up with the likes of Berny & Molloy.
He'll be out for a few weeks, but I'm sure he'll be back to fight another day. Heal up soon Sion!
Edit: Ouch, it doesn't look good - a facebook update from him:
