New uplift service in the Forest

There's been rumblings about it for a while, but it's now official and live. A permanent uplift service in the Forest of Dean!

They've sensibly picked a working week that overlaps with Cwmcarn's days off - so if you want an uplift on a Monday or a Tuesday (which Cwmdown don't operate on) you now know where to go! FlyUp will be running on Friday/Saturday/Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. There will be capacitiy for 16 riders each day, though I wouldn't be surprised if they add a second vehicle at the weekends in future if they get the numbers they're hoping for!

Prices are good too, £23 at weekends and £20.50 in the week. Service runs from 10am to 6pm or dusk, whichever is sooner. You can also pay for single-trip tickets on the day if there's space, at £3 each (£3.50 at weekends). £2.50 for under 16s.

A lot of people think an uplift service isn't necessary at the Forest of Dean - and to a degree I'd concur. But while it is a fairly small hill, it's also quite an evil push if you go up the main route, and I'm sure FlyUp will get plenty of business - I for one am a lot keener to go to the Forest now than I would have been beforehand.

I hope it goes well for them, and we see more and more of these sort of places crop up, after all Cwmdown has already shown that it's very viable!

The first uplifts will be on May 29th, and you can book online at http://www.flyupdownhill.co.uk/booknow.asp.
